Napier’s does Bollywood

We were asked to do an 18th birthday party with the food themed around Indian cuisine.

Rather than do the usual, we set about putting together the most genuine selection of Indian dishes taken from an early Indian cookery book dating back to the late 60’s early 70’s. We made it our mission to source all the authentic traditional raw materials from local supplier’s including a local Asian provisions merchant in Keighley. We then set about marinating all the meat and grinding and blending all the herbs and spices for each of the dishes to re-create the dishes as authentically as possible. We even used authentic Indian flour to make our own naan breads.

The colours and flavours are quite a lot different from that experience today in Indian restaurants as the depth of flavours colours & textures are far more complex & not solely based around the heat of the chilli powder.

It has been a very enjoyable & illuminating experience & one I would certainly advise anyone with an intrest in ethnic food to have a go at.
ENJOY!
